The police Zonkizizwe have arrested two suspects, aged 32 and 43, while a third suspect (42) was fatally shot during an armed robbery at Suikerbosrand along R550 on Friday, 11 April 2025.
According to information received, a man reportedly hitch-hiked and accepted a lift from three occupants in a red VW Polo on the N3 in Vosloorus.
However, along the road, the driver took a different direction and the other suspects pulled out knives and demanded money from the victim. They searched him and took out his purse, which had some cash.
He then pulled out his licensed firearm, fatally shooting one suspect, and seriously injured the other two.
Two of the suspects were immediately arrested and are under police guard in hospital and the third one was declared dead on the scene.
A case of armed robbery and an inquest has been opened for further investigations.
