A man was shot dead and another was critically wounded in a shooting at a shop on Main Reef Road in Randfontein on the West Rand on Friday night, Gauteng paramedics said.
ER24 paramedics, along with another private service, arrived on the scene and were greeted by a heavy police presence, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.
“Paramedics were lead into the shop were they found two men lying on the ground a short distance apart from each other.
“On assessment paramedics found that one of the men had succumbed to his fatal gunshot wound. Unfortunately nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on [the] scene.”
The second man was also found with a gunshot wound to his head and was in a critical condition. Paramedics treated the man and immediately initiated advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patient was transported to Laratong Hospital for urgent treatment.
The motive for the shooting was unknown but police were investigating, Meiring said.
