On Friday, 8 June 2018 from 08:00 to 16:00 police in Norkem Park were out in full force to do patrols and searches and focusing on serious crimes and hot spots.

During the operation they managed to arrest suspects on different charges ranging from pointing of firearm, theft, assault common and shoplifting.

The members also managed to close one illegal shebeen at Gamtoos Street, Norkem Park Extension 4. Liquor was confiscated and the owner issued with a fine of R1500 for selling liquor without a license or permit.

On Saturday, 9 June 201 a joined operation was contacted between SAPS, Norkem Park Community Patrollers, Alleycat Patrollers, Birchleigh Neighbourhood Watch and reservists. The security companies as follows were also part of the operation: SEC Pros Armed Response, MML, Alpha, Formel Security and medics from Formel.

The operation started at about 12:45 with a parade at Birchleigh Neighbourhood Watch clubhouse at Cloete Street, Birchleigh.

The Station Crime Prevention Head, Lt Col Tsoute was in charge of the parade. The operation was initiated by SAPS Reservists under the command of R/ Capt Buys and SAPS members at the station. The parade was informed about the duties of the day. The focus for the day was patrol, stop and searches, hotspots, road blocks, drunken driving and closure of illegal liquor outlets.

During Saturday operation one shebeen was closed at Handel Street, Kempton Park and liquor confiscated and the owner issued with a fine of R1500.00. The operation lasted up until the next day Sunday, 10 June 2018 at about 14:00.

The Norkem Park Station Commander, Col Strauss thanked everyone who took part in the operation and said was a fruitful one which resulted in to so many successes.

The arrested suspects will appear at Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court soon.
