Police in Ekurhuleni District arrested two suspects, aged 29 and 35, in Tembisa on Monday, 15 May 2023 and recovered a hijacked vehicle following an intelligence-driven operation.

A team comprising of members from Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence, Gauteng Highway Patrol and SAPS Tembisa Tracing Team operationalised information they obtained on suspects allegedly linked to a spate of house robberies around the area of Winnie Mandela, Tembisa.

The suspects’ vehicle was detected near a mall in Tembisa and it was subsequently intercepted.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the said vehicle is linked to a hijacking case reported in Newcastle during October 2022.

In another unrelated incident, on Tuesday, 16 May 2023 a team comprising of members from Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence and SAPS Daveyton arrested a suspect for unlawful possession of ammunition following a community tip-off.

Further investigation is still underway.
