A Norkem Park man, charged with the alleged murder of his father, retired Major General Hendrick Mogoerane (60), has been released on bail.
Thabiso Mogoerane (26) was arrested at his home last week Thursday 30 July 2020, by Serious Organised Crime Investigation members over the death of Major General Mogoerane. He appeared briefly in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court on murder charges on Friday and was granted R10 000 bail.
Thabiso is alleged to have contributed in the death of his late father whose lifeless body was found in the backseat of his Hyundai Accent on 17 January 2018. An intelligence guided operation by Serious Organised Crime Investigation and Crime Intelligence in June 2018, led to the arrest of eight suspects.
Major General Mogoerane’s wife Cordelia Velaphi Mogoerane (57), Ntombizodwa Eunice Dlamini (71), Mzweshinga Zondo (51), Morris Musa Maisela (47), Thokozani Zondo (46), Sanele Micheal Mphuthi (38), Thulani Nxumalo (35), and Bongiwe Lukhele (46) were detained and charged. Lukhele was unfortunately murdered nearly before one of her court appearances.
Meanwhile, Thabiso is expected to join his co-accused, who are out on bail, at the South Gauteng High Court, in Johannesburg on Monday 3 August 2020. The investigation still continues.
