On the afternoon of 21 July 2017, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Nana Sita street and Du Toit street in Pretoria.

Paramedics from Tshwane Emergency Services were first to arrive at the scene followed shortly afterwards by Netcare 911 paramedics.

Reports from the scene alleged that a motorist in traffic was attacked by a suspected hijacker and the motorist then shot the attacker. The incident and preceding events will form part of a police investigation.

Paramedics attended to an unidentified man, he was believed to be approximately 30 years old. The man had been shot in the leg and had suffered severe blood loss.

Paramedics from Tshwane EMS and Netcare 911 worked as a team to try and save the man’s life, he was placed on a ventilator at the scene and CPR was performed.

Advanced Life Support resuscitation protocols were followed, but tragically the man had lost too much blood and efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. He was declared dead at the scene.

The SAPS were at the scene to investigate.
