On 19 April 2018 a motorist who stopped to relieve himself in the veld noticed a strange looking parcel with an extremely foul odor. He decided to investigate and stumbled on the decomposing body wrapped in a expensive tarpaulin, then wrapped in plastic and tied with ropes.
Personal belongings were left close to the body.
He ran to call for assistance from a resident who in turn went to well know resident (ex SAPS CPF Sector 3 Chairperson) Shenan Cochrane who rushed to investigate and immediately knew she was dealing with a murder and a dumped body.
According to medical personnel who were called to the scene the body was left there for about a month. The body was so badly decomposed that It could not be determined if the body was that of a man or woman.
Two round wounds were visible on the top of the skull which could indicate that he was shot in the head.
Shenan then called Terry Ann and while talking about the body, Terry Ann mentioned to her that the body might be that of a “Missing Person” and that it is a good place to start searching. The shoes were quite unique. Shenan went onto the Pink Ladies FB page and noticed that a man was reported missing about a month ago and the shoes he wore when he went missing was the same as a shoe she saw close to the body.
She immediately contacted the investigating officer and told him about the body.
Last week it was determined that the body belonged to the specific missing person 42 year old Ronald Conn who resided in Randburg. Police have opened a case of Murder and they are investigating. It is believed he was murdered somewhere else and dumped in the veld.
