Midrand hijackers arrested

The prompt response by members of the police in Midrand led to the recovery of a hijacked vehicle transporting computers.

It is reported that on 21 April 2023, the members were doing their routine patrol when stopped by the victim who told them that he had just been hijacked.

According to the victim, four men hijacked and kidnapped him to a certain place where they offloaded the merchandise he was transporting and after that they dropped him off near Waterfall cemetery in Midrand, where he saw the police.

The members swiftly responded and the suspects’ vehicle was spotted. When the police tried to stop it two of the suspects jumped off the vehicle and fled while two other suspects were arrested.

The arrested duo was found in possession of a pistol with a filed off serial number, live ammunition and jamming devices.

Further investigations led to the place where the computers from the hijacked vehicle were loaded off and the vehicle was also recovered not far from that place.

The members were commended for their swift response and alertness.

The arrested suspects aged 26 and 47 years are expected to appear before court soon on charges of hijacking, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
