Several motorists on the West Rand were recently victims of vehicle hijacking, which have been committed by people posing as Metro Police.
At least three similar incidents were reported and motorists were warned to be on their guard.
In one case, the victim was stopped and asked for soft drinks as a bribe. When the person tried to get his wallet and pay the bribe, a gun was pressed against his face, and they took his car.
Although the metro police denied that its members committed the hijacking, there are still unanswered questions about how the criminals are in possession of a full metro police uniform. If the criminals are not police officers, they are provided with uniforms by members of the police, and therefore equally an accomplice.
