Mduduzi Manana the former deputy minister in President Jacob Zuma’s cabinet was convicted of three counts of assault.

He pleaded guilty to the court in Randburg and admitted that he had assaulted three women in a club.

He resigned as deputy minister of higher education due to public pressure after Zuma did not act against him.

Fort Hare students considered it more necessary to assist Manana in court than attending classes or preparing for exams.

Two of the men who were in the club with Manana at the time of the assault were also in court and arrested.

Manana will be sentenced in November.
