A man was left seriously injured on 13 March 2019, following a robbery at a shop in Vereeniging CBD. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 07:25 to find another medical service already in attendance. On further inspection, paramedics found a man lying inside the shop.
An assessment showed that the man had sustained a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen and was in a serious condition. Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated. Once treated, the man was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a private hospital in Johannesburg for further treatment.
The local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
