A man, believed to be in his 50s, was killed this morning in an apparent robbery at the corners of Limpopo and Umtata Road in Three Rivers, Vereeniging.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene by the local authorities.
Upon arrival, paramedics found the body of the man lying face down on the side of the road.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and showed no signs of life.
Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.
It is understood that the man had been seated inside his bakkie (pick up truck) when he was approached by an unknown number of gunmen.
Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the details of this incident.
