One man was killed and another critically injured this morning after an apparent robbery which ended on Old Johannesburg in Hennops Park.
ER24 paramedics responded to the scene after they received reports of an apparent shooting.
Upon arrival on scene, paramedics found the body of a man lying a short distance away from his vehicle. The man was assessed and found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.
A second man was found lying near his vehicle. Assessments showed that the man was in a critical condition, having sustained a gunshot wound to his chest.
Paramedics immediately treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the man was transported to Tembisa Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
Two other men were assessed and found to have escaped injury. Both men were taken into custody by local authorities.
It is understood that the four men had apparently robbed a nearby restaurant. Local authorities gave chase with this incident resulting in a shootout.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
