At 16H51 Thursday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting on Doreen Road in Wilropark Ext 12, Roodepoort.
Reports from the scene indicate that a 44-year-old sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen in an alleged hijacking.
The patient was assessed on scene by Paramedics and found to have sustained critical injuries requiring Advanced Life support to stabilise him.
Due to the seriousness of the man’s injuries the Netcare 2 specialised helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the seriously injured patient to hospital for further treatment.
All necessary authorities were on scene.
