Man found tied up dehydrated in field

A man, believed to be in his fifties, was found tied up in a veld near the N12 and Voortrekker Roads this afternoon.

Shortly after 4pm, an off duty ER24 medic noticed a commotion near the highway and investigated. Upon further assessment, he found local security services as well as members of the South African Police Service conducting a search for a man which went missing earlier on Thursday morning.

It is understood that he was later found by a member of the public in the veld near the highway where he was apparently tied up. Paramedics from ER24 which were dispatched to the scene met up with local security, police and members of the family at a nearby park. They were informed that the police found the man and would be bringing him to the location to be assessed.

He was assessed by paramedics and found to have been slightly dehydrated. He also had some bruises on his arms. The man was treated and later transported to a nearby hospital for further medical observation.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known. Family members on the scene indicated that he left home to walk his dog at the park earlier this morning and never returned.

The police attended the scene and will investigate the matter.
