Man found hanging from tree in Johannesburg

A 35-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was found hanging from a tree in a park in Highlands North, Johannesburg, on Sunday, paramedics said.

“Shortly before 11am paramedics arrived on the scene where bystanders took them to a river flowing through the park,” ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said.

The bystanders explained that they were passing through the park when they noticed the man hanging from the tree. They found that he was still alive and cut him from the tree.

Paramedics found him to be in a critical condition and placed him on life support before rushing him to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for further care. The circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet known and police and security services also attended the scene, Vermaak said.
