At about 12h39 yesterday afternoon, Netcare911 paramedics responded to a call where a man had been severely assaulted and tied up with wire to a chair in his house.
This incident happened on 8th road in Randfontein.
Upon arrival, paramedics found the man to be in a critical condition.
The man was stabilised on scene as well as intubated by a Netcare911 Advanced Life Support paramedic.
The Netcare2 helicopter was then dispatched to the scene to airlift the critically injured man to a level 1 trauma facility in Johannesburg for further medical care.
Sadly, the man went into cardiac arrest when the Netcare2 helicopter landed.
Resuscitation efforts by our paramedics were unsuccessful.
The man was declared dead on scene.
Police are investigating the matter.
