Man arrested in Mamelodi for possession of explosives

Mamelodi police arrested a 23-year-old man today at V section Mamelodi West for possession of explosives and suspected stolen property.

The police conducted an intelligence driven operation and upon their arrival at the premises, they found an alleged smoke grenade hidden in the flower garden.

The K9 unit and explosive experts were called for assistance and upon carefully examining the device, they confirmed that it was a red smoke grenade.

They searched the suspect’s room and recovered four plasma TVs all valued at about R150,000. The suspect was arrested and detained and is facing charges of possession of explosives and suspected stolen property. Investigations are continuing.
