At 10H01 Friday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting in Wierda Road in Wierda Valley Sandton.
Reports from the scene indicate that a 41-year-old male had sustained a gunshot wound to his head.
He was assessed on scene by a paramedics from Netcare 911 and Emerg-G-Med and found to be in a critical condition.
Due to the nature of his injuries the Netcare 2 helicopter air ambulance was called to the scene to airlift the patient to hospital for further treatment.
Circumstances leading up to the shooting will be investigated by the SAPS who were on scene.
