For years, Randy Christian and his wife have dedicated their lives to serving their community in Toekomsrus, west of Johannesburg, by feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, and providing shelter for children in distress. Now, Christian is taking his mission a step further—literally—by embarking on a 20-day walk and hitchhiking journey to raise awareness and secure sponsorships for a safe haven for vulnerable children.
Christian, a father of four, began his trek in Randfontein in the West Rand and plans to end in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni. His goal? To shine a light on the struggles faced by disadvantaged youth in his community.
“I’m hoping to attract the right sponsorship to enable us to establish a place of safety for vulnerable kids in our community,” Christian said. “I also want to make people aware of the plight of these voiceless children.”
His journey is more than just a walk—it’s a call to action. Christian hopes each step will bring attention to critical issues such as school bullying, child nutrition, youth mentorship, and the rising threat of gangsterism.
“There’s a lot of work that lies ahead for us,” he acknowledged.
Supporters have rallied behind him, confident that his efforts will bring tangible change. “We trust and believe that this journey will bear fruit,” said one well-wisher. “We are hoping for better things for the children and for Randy himself.”
As Christian continues his arduous trek, his community watches with hope, praying that his determination will translate into life-changing opportunities for those who need it most.
