A special unit has been established to curb illegal land occupation in the greater Pretoria area.
The DA confirmed that a unit had been established to combat land invasions since the incidents were spiraling out of control, especially in the Nellmapius- Ga Rankuwa-, Atteridgeville- Soshanguve, Fort Western and Mamelodi East areas.
The land is “sold” to dwellers by corrupt officials and politicians, which in turn leads to evictions and clashes.
Apparently, similar units are also established in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
One of the major problems that lead to this situation is the fact that the country’s borders are wide open to everyone north of the Limpopo coming to South Africa and then demand housing.
