Members of Khutsong SAPS Crime Prevention and District Crime Prevention team, arrested a 40 year old male for possession of an unlicensed firearm on 23 June 2019 in the evening, at Sompane Road near Khutsong Hostel.

While members were busy with stop and search operations, they spotted a male and a female on the street and requested to search them. During the search, the male was found in possession of a firearm and when asked to produce his licence to carry a firearm, he failed to produce it and was arrested and detained at Khutsong SAPS. The suspect appeared in the Khutsong Magistrate’s Court on 24 June 2019.

The Station Commander, Colonel Melinda Prinsloo applauded the members for the good work as in most cases firearms are used to rob people in their houses and street the police will continue doing stop and searches and arrest those who are breaking the law.

She further requested the community to assist the police with information in the recovery of illegal firearms in our community.
