Johannesburg residents in Fleurhof, Orange Farm, and Region G are bracing for a major water disruption on Tuesday as Johannesburg Water announces a scheduled 10-hour shutdown in some areas. The outage is necessary for critical maintenance and upgrades to the water infrastructure, aimed at improving long-term supply stability.

Affected areas may experience low water pressure or no water at all from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Johannesburg Water has advised residents to store enough water in advance and use it sparingly during the outage.

“The maintenance is essential to address aging infrastructure and reduce future unplanned outages,” said a Johannesburg Water spokesperson. Emergency water tankers will be deployed to key areas to assist residents.

Residents are urged to monitor Johannesburg Water’s social media for updates and report any prolonged supply issues. This shutdown follows recent water challenges in the city, highlighting the need for infrastructure upgrades.
