GAUTENG – A 45-year-old Ivory Park woman was arrested on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, for allegedly trading alcohol under an illegal shebeen permit in direct violation of the Gauteng Liquor Act.
According to the Provincial FLASH (PHO) Liquor Control Team and the Ivory Park South African Police Service (SAPS) Designated Liquor Officer (DLO), the arrest was the result of a coordinated joint operation in Ekurhuleni. Acting on received information, law enforcement members conducted a targeted inspection at a liquor outlet located in Extension 10, Ivory Park.
During the inspection, authorities established that the premises were actively operating under a shebeen permit that had been legally issued to the previous owner of the property, not the current operator.
In response to the violation, police immediately closed the premises, confiscated all liquor found on site, and took the 45-year-old suspect into custody.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court in the near future. She faces a formal charge of contravening Section 127(a) of the Gauteng Liquor Act, 2003 (Act 2 of 2003).
