Illegal immigrants, mining: FF Plus, other political parties join protest at Krugersdorp court

On the morning of 1 August 2022, the FF Plus joined several other political parties in front of the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court as part of a protest action against illegal immigrants, mining activities and crime.

The protest action took place while more than 80 illegal immigrants appeared before the Court for violating the Immigration Act.

People also had the opportunity to sign the FF Plus’s official letter of objection to the illegal mining activities taking place in Mogale City Local Municipality (Krugersdorp, Magaliesburg, Muldersdrift).

The FF Plus is constantly asking the police for assistance in crime prevention in West Village just outside Krugersdorp, where illegal mining activities are conducted and various people have been wounded in shootings.

In the most recent incident, a group of women, who were busy filming a music video at the mine heaps in West Village, was robbed and raped.

During an oversight visit to the West Rand last month, mining houses were asked to ensure better safety and security at its unused shafts.

Heavily armed miners, who unlawfully bring gold ore to the surface and commit various other crimes, must not be tolerated.

The police must take decisive action to stop illegal immigrants from neighbouring countries.

The FF Plus has asked the Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lt-Gen. Elias Mawela, to look into the matter and to involve all role players to put an end to the illegal mining activities and related crime in the West Rand.
