Three suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 7 June 2023, following a high-speed chase that originated in Garsfontein.

The incident involved five suspects who were implicated in a house robbery that occurred earlier that day at Garsfontein policing precinct.

A neighbour that witnessed the incident was allegedly shot on the knee as the suspects fled the scene with a BMW vehicle.

Garsfontein police members promptly gave a look-out of the vehicle which was identified and a high-speed chase ensued between police and the suspects, leading to an accident on the N3 road at Marlboro off-ramp.

One of the suspects was arrested and one firearm was recovered at the accident scene while the other four fled scene on foot.

With the assistance of local security companies and JMPD members, the police managed to apprehend two more suspects.

Items that were stolen during the house robbery were successfully recovered.

The recovered firearm will be sent to the forensic laboratories for ballistic testing to determine whether it may have been used in the commission of other offenses.

All three suspects are expected to appear before court soon on charges of attempted murder, house robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of stolen property, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Police investigation continues.
