A man believed to be in his 30s, a security guard, was killed on the morning of 17 September 2019, in an armed robbery at a mall in Honeydew. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find another service already in attendance, tending to a man found lying outside the one shop.
On assessment, medics found that the man had sustained a gunshot wound to his back and was in a critical condition.
The man was treated for his injuries and was provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the man was transported to Life Wilgeheuwel for urgent treatment.
On route, the patient’s vital signs rapidly diminished and paramedics had to initiate CPR and further advanced life support interventions. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
