On Friday 7 Orctober at about 16:30 Hercules police were on liquor operation at Gomorah informal settlement when they arrested a suspect for selling liquor without licence at 1647 Maluleke village.
While confiscating liquor and executing the arrest, community members overpowered the members and took the keys to the SAPS Sector vehicle.
Police called for back up when their patrol vehicle was torched and another one damaged by stone throwing.
No injuries reported. SAPS investigations continue.
