The station commander of Temba SAPS Brigadier Johannes Tau applauded members who swiftly responded to the information of a hijacked motor vehicle from members of Loate SAPS.

The vehicle was reported coming towards the direction of Temba area.

Members of Temba spotted the vehicle at Stinkwater where the chase ensued. The suspect stopped the vehicle and ran on foot towards Nkandla informal settlement in Stinkwater where he threw the firearm on the roof of a tin shack.

Police managed to apprehend a 45-year-old suspect and recovered the firearm.

The vehicle was reported as hijacked at Hercules.

The suspect will be facing charges of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm, and will appear in the Moretele magistrate court in due cause.
