The National Head of the DPCI Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya is considering reasons why two Hawks members should not be suspended.
Earlier, on 1 October 2018, it was reported that Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya has called for the immediate suspension of the two Hawks members who were arrested on Sunday, 30 September 2018, for alleged corruption and fraud.
Lieutenant General Lebeya has not as yet taken any decision or instructed the immediate suspension of Captain Kaizer Mohale (50) and Colonel Emily Hlophe (44).
This comes in the wake of the two Hawks members, Captain Kaizer Mohale (50) and Colonel Emily Hlophe (44), being arrested on Sunday for alleged corruption and fraud.
The two senior officers, attached to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Investigation as well as their accomplice, former police constable Steve Mangena (35), are alleged to have misrepresented themselves to a businessman who needed services of a private investigator.
The three allegedly hatched a scam and defrauded him of an undisclosed amount of money pretending to be private investigators. Mohale, Hlophe and Mangena appeared briefly at the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday and they were all granted R5000 bail each.
The Serious Corruption Investigation of the DPCI is investigating the matter and the case is postponed to 5 November 2018.
