Elias Sibusiso Masilela (35) and Lazarus Bennett Ndlovu (33) have been remanded in custody by the Cullinan Magistrate Court on 21 August 2017, after they were arrested by members of Hawks National Bureau for Illegal Firearm Control and Priority Violence Crime (NBIFCPVC) and Siyabuswa SAPS members for double murder and attempted murder.

The arrest of the duo came after the arrests of Ntadi Nemadzivhanani (27) and Mahlatse Letageng (25) who were arrested for possession of two stolen motor vehicles, firearms and ammunitions; and for possession of two rifles.

Nemadzivhanani was remanded in custody and his case was postponed to 25 August 2017 for formal bail application while Mahlatse Letageng was granted R10 000.00 bail which he failed to pay. He will be in court again on 19 September 2017 for further investigation.

Elias Masilela and Lazarus Ndlovu were charged on double murder and attempted murder after a gangster group from Siyabuswa fought its rival group from Cullinan. During the fight Elias and Lazarus shot and killed Clifford who was the passenger in the Cullinan group’s vehicle in April 2017.

It is alleged that during the shooting incident the victim fell from the moving vehicle and Emergency services were summoned to the crime scene while they were trying to assist the victim, Elias, Lazarus and their accomplices came back and fatally shot the victim.

The suspects directed about twenty eight shots at the Emergency services ambulance which was on the crime scene trying to assist the victim and the Emergency services members had to run for their lives.

Elias was remanded in custody and the case is postponed to 25 August 2017 for formal bail application at Cullinan Magistrate Court. Elias was out on bail for other outstanding murder case which is scheduled for 28 September 2017 at Kwaggafontein

Lazarus who was out on bail for other outstanding case of Possession of unlicensed firearms postponed to 16 September 2017, was also remanded in custody and the case is postponed to 25 August 2017 for formal bail application.
