An FF Plus Member of the Provincial Legislature in Gauteng nearly became part of the country’s crime statistics when heavily armed robbers opened fire on him and a fellow party staff member.
Kobus Hoffman and Pierre Wheeler were in their office in Loch Street, Meyerton, when they heard people calling for help from an adjacent building.
They ran to the building and came upon about six robbers busy robbing a jewellery shop.
A gunfight broke out between the robbers and the FF Plus members.
After which the robbers made off with 600 silver rings and gold chains in a white Mercedes Benz.
Hoffman is a member of the Portfolio Committee on Community Safety in the Gauteng Legislature.
The robbers are still at large.
