The Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP) have arrested forty-three (43) offenders on Gauteng freeways for reckless and negligent driving.
The suspects were charged for reckless and negligent driving with an alternative charge of exceeding the prescribed speed limit of 120km/h.
Their speed ranged between 148km/h to 188km/h on a freeway. The suspects are aged between 21 and 44 years old.
The speed enforcement operations were conducted on the N4 Emalahleni to Pretoria, N1 freeway to Johannesburg and R21 OR Tambo freeway to Pretoria amongst others.
Amongst the suspects apprehended was a 37-year-old driver who was driving a grey BMW on the N4 Emalahleni freeway clocking 188km/h on the freeway. The suspect was immediately apprehended.
