Gauteng SAPS launch ‘Safer Festive Season’ operation

Gauteng SAPS launched the provincial safer festive season operations on the morning of 8 November 2019. Police Minister, General Cele, Deputy Minister, Mr Cassel Mathale, Deputy National Commissioner, Lieutenant General Masemola and the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mawela are leading crime prevention operations that commenced as early as 03:00.

A hijacked building was raided where hundreds of undocumented persons were taken in for processing by the Department of Home Affairs for verification of their stay in the country and verification of those who have documents suspected to be fraudulent.

The Minister and his entourage also boarded a train from New Canada Station to Johannesburg Station where they interacted with the commuters.

A walkabout was also conducted at Noord taxi rank. The launch continues.
