Police in Gauteng have intensified their crackdown on counterfeit goods, conducting raids across the province. On Monday, 23 June 2025, members of the Gauteng Counterfeit Unit, in collaboration with Brand Protectors, targeted multiple shops in Wierdabrug, Tshwane, where they confiscated fake products valued at over R1 million.

The seized items included counterfeit cellphone accessories, consumables, and toys. Authorities have warned that such operations will continue across all districts in Gauteng to curb the sale of illicit goods.

“The team remains committed to disrupting the trade of counterfeit products that undermine legitimate businesses and pose risks to consumers,” a police spokesperson stated. Further raids are expected in the coming weeks as part of the ongoing enforcement efforts.
