On Wednesday 30 October 2019, at approximately 14:00 a joint operation, between detectives and crime intelligence in Booysens led to the arrest of a 27 year old man who was terrorizing women in and around Gauteng.

It is alleged that the suspect was recruiting his victims through social media and promised them jobs at the Department of Health in Gauteng. Additionally, more than 10 victims paid some money to secure employment as nurses.

The police followed the information of one of the victims who was supposed to pay R3000. 00 to the suspect. In the process of payment police pounced on the suspect in the house while counting money with the victim. During the arrest police found nursing, priests and funeral undertaker uniforms.

Moreover, the suspect was also profiled and found to have been serving a 3 year suspended sentence for similar cases last year in Tshwane.

Police management commended the police officers for their continuance in prioritizing cases against women, as all the victims of the suspect were women.

The suspect will appear in Booysens Magistrates’ Court on 1 November 2019.
