On Wednesday afternoon Netcare 911 paramedics responded to the intersection of Grayston Drive and Daisy Road in Sandton for a shooting and hijacking incident.
Reports from the scene indicate that a shooting broke out between suspects and law enforcement officers after a hi-jacking.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that a twenty-year-old-bystander was seriously injured. The Netcare 911 advanced Life Support paramedics and ambulance crew worked fervently to stabilise the injured man at the scene, before they airlifted him to a specialised hospital for the care that he required.
Reports from people at the scene indicate that the suspect’s vehicle crashed on the bridge about five-hundred metres from the initial incident, allegedly all the suspects were detained by the police. Traffic in the area is severely affected.
