Former Gezina bookkeeper arrested for R2.1 million fraud

The Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes court granted a 53 years old woman, Gladys Pear Bezuidenhout bail on 10 June 2021, during her first court appearance on fraud and theft charges.

Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Pretoria arrested Bezuidenhout when she handed herself accompanied by her legal representative and subsequently charged for fraud.

It is alleged that between 2015 and 2017 when Bezuidenhout was a bookkeeper at a Gezina based company, Van Opstal Masjiene, allegedly transferred approximately R2.1 million without authorisation from her former employer’s business account into her bank account.

Bezuidenhout appeared in court on the same day and granted R10 000 bail.

The case is postponed to 22 July 2021 for docket content disclosure.
