Gauteng police acted swiftly and diligently to information that led to foiled robberies and recovery of seven firearms within 48 hours, in Ekurhuleni. Police received information about a hijacked vehicle with men that are heavily armed.

The information was operationalised and the vehicle matching the description was spotted by police. Upon realising that they were being followed and monitored, the suspects accelerated and a chase ensued. The suspects stopped the vehicle, a grey Mercedes Benz, and fled on foot. The vehicle was searched and four firearms were recovered.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the car was hijacked in Bramley, last month. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

Also in Ekurhuleni, on Sunday 8 September 2019, at approximately 15:15, police arrested eleven suspects aged between 33 and 54 and recovered three firearms.
