In a concerted effort to bring down the scourge of drugs in Gauteng, police worked around the clock pursuing a sought after suspect, the owner of a farm, Deelkraal, on which police uncovered an illicit drug laboratory on Saturday, 16 November 2019.

The first suspect was arrested on the farm after a multi-faceted team from the West Rand District pounced on the farm and found containers in a garage with chemicals.

Information led police to Carletonville where the second suspect was found and arrested for manufacturing of illicit drugs and possession of drugs as per the scene at Deelkraal farm. The man was also arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms (two pistols) and ammunition.

This brings to total six (6) firearms recovered during operations over the weekend.

On further investigation, investigators from the SAPS stock theft unit seized three Brahman cattle for further investigation on suspicion of tampering of brand marks. The livestock has been handed over to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

The suspects will appear before the Carletonville Magistrate Court on Monday, 18 November 2019.
