Management of police in Gauteng, have noted with concern, a video clip circulating on social media depicting members of the South African Police Service, Flying Squad being accused by a man of having stolen some items from his house.

Preliminary reports indicate that on Tuesday afternoon 9 April 2019, police were on an intelligence driven operation in response to reports of possible stolen vehicles and unlicensed firearms at a certain residential premises in Block PP, Soshanguve.

While police can confirm that a case of burglary at residential premises was opened at Rietgat Police Station; Gauteng Provincial Commissioner of police, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela has sanctioned an urgent internal investigation into the matter to establish the veracity of the allegations.

“Management views these allegations in a very serious light in line with our zero tolerance approach to corruption by our members. Therefore, it is important to allow both the criminal case and the internal investigation to run their course so that the appropriate consequence measures can be affected pending the outcome of both,” cautioned the Provincial Commissioner.
