An 11-year-old boy was found dead in Fleurhof near Johannesburg on Wednesday after being reported missing the previous day. According to reports, the child attended school but never returned home.
Security guards confirmed seeing the boy being dropped off at a residential complex by his transport around 3:30 p.m. He was last seen entering the premises before his disappearance. His body was later discovered on a staircase near his mother’s home, partially undressed and with severe injuries.
Family members and community witnesses allege he was brutally assaulted and possibly dragged. The boy’s uncle described the scene as “gruesome,” noting visible lacerations on his head, neck, and throat.
Local residents criticized police for inadequate initial investigations, claiming officers failed to conduct thorough searches.
The boy’s mother, distraught, is awaiting forensic results. Community leaders and private security groups have pledged support, while calls for psychological assistance for the family grow.
