Five unlicensed firearms recovered after robbery, Nuffield

The Ekurhuleni East Cluster VISPOL and Detectives Trio Task Teams in conjunction with Springs SAPS Detectives, arrested 6 suspects for business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

A business robbery was committed at Jansen Road in the Nuffield area on Saturday, 18 August 2018. Thorough investigations by D/Cst Dagama of Springs Detectives and information received from the community, led to a positive lead of the whereabouts of the suspects.

This resulted in the arrest of a suspect and another two suspects were later arrested at Daggafontein Informal Settlement. Five unlicensed firearms with ammunition was found and seized. Whilst they were busy detaining the suspects, Springs Crime Prevention continued investigating and led to the arrest of one of the suspect’s girlfriend for the possession of a robbed laptop and the victim’s wallet.

In a separate incident on 18 August 2018, Kwa Thema SAPS Crime Prevention members received information of a suspect that was in possession of an unlicensed firearm in a Tavern. Quick response by the Police led to the arrest of the suspect and they seized the unlicensed firearm. Upon Police further searching the people and the premises, another firearm was found lying on the ground and was also seized.

The arrested suspects will appear before Springs Magistrate Court soon.
