The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) High-Speed Unit Officers, handcuffed five motorists between the ages of twenty and fifty-five, for exceeding the speed limit along Great North Road in Kempton Park.
Officers arrested the drivers traveling between 105km/h and 118km/h in a 70km/h zone. “Speeding is one of the major contributors to road accidents and it’s of paramount importance for motorists to adhere to speed limits to avoid road carnage.
We as EMPD will intensify our law enforcement efforts to ensure that speedsters account for their actions,” says Acting Metro Police Chief Julius Mkhwanazi, warning that the EMPD will not compromise its serious stance when it comes to law enforcement.
All five suspects will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court soon.
