In their effort to rid the communities of illegal firearms and to fight the scourge of drugs in the area, members attached to Ivory Park SAPS arrested two suspects in the early hours of 6 June 2019, in Phomolong area for possession of an unlicensed firearm, drugs and explosive devices.

At about 02:00, members of Ivory Park were patrolling the area when they acted on a tip-off regarding the suspect who is allegedly possessing an unlicensed firearm in Phomolong area, Rabie Ridge. They proceeded to the identified address which is at Dladla Str, Phomolong. Upon their arrival they found the two suspects.

One of the suspects was found to be in possession of a 9mm pistol with one Magazine and four live rounds of ammunition. In the room of another suspect, members recovered 2 kg of Cat powder, 106 cat tablets, one small bag of dagga and 27 mandrax tablets.

Both suspects aged 21 and 39 were arrested and detained at Rabie Ridge SAPS.

Major General Vincent Leshabane of Ekurhuleni District, commended the members for their swift response in order to ensure the safety of the community.

The suspects will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon to face their charges on possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, drugs and explosive devices.
