An elderly farmer and his wife were assaulted during a robbery on Sunday night, November 6 at their farm situated in Cayman Road, Eikenhof, South of Johannesburg.
Around 23:00, the barking dogs awakened the couple. When they went to investigate, they were both overpowered by five men and severely beaten.
At this stage, it is not clear how the suspects gained entry into the house. The farmer was stabbed multiple times with a sharp object and beaten badly, his wife sustained serious injuries during the attack.
The attackers fled the scene with a firearm, and cash.
The paramedics arrived and managed to stabilize the couple before transferring them to hospital.
The police are investigating this incident, and no arrests have been made in connection with this farm attack.
