Farm racism by MEC of agriculture

Die Vryburger

If a farmer is murdered in his province, the Gauteng MEC for Agriculture, Lebogang Maile, remains quiet. The 32-year-old farm worker who wanted to steal a tractor at Tarlton near Krugersdorp was instantly considered innocent by a comment condemning the killing of the alleged thief.

There is currently uncertainty about who shot the worker: there are allegations that it was the owner who shot him when he wanted to steal the tractor, but other reports indicate that he was shot by a security officer who took action when he tried to seal the tractor.

Maile said the accused should not be released on bail because it will increase the tension around the murder. Farm terrorists are, however, continually released on bail, and observers accuse the MEC of openly exposing new farm racism.
