Farm burglary, firearm stolen, off duty police track and arrest suspects, Heidelberg

Police arrested two male suspects aged both 19 years old for Possession of Unlicensed firearm, Possession of Unlicensed ammunition and business burglary at Mendez Farm north of Heidelberg town early hours of 23 June 2019.

Police received information of the business burglary and theft of cash and a firearm. Quick response by an off-duty Police and his wife (Police Reservist) placed themselves on duty, with assistance of other officers’ lead to the arrested of the two suspects in Ratanda Location.

Police recovered one 12 Bore Shotgun Pump Action with 4 ammunition from the suspects. It is alleged that suspects broke into the farmhouse during the early hours where they stole cash, firearm and ammunition.

The Station Commander, Colonel Amanda Viljoen applauded the commitment, courage, determinations and dedication of the off-duty members and Relief A for their sterling good work of bringing the suspects to book. The arrested suspects will appear before Heidelberg Magistrate soon.
