A farm attack took place on the night of 1 June 2021, on a smallholding in Muldersdrift, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. A man, Quinn Young, was woken by his dogs that were barking inside the home. Suddenly an attacker fired a shot at him through the bedroom window.
Young dived onto the floor and made his way to the bathroom and immediately requested assistance on local groups from his phone. The attacker continued firing shots through the window whilst shouting at young saying “i’m going to kill you.”
Between four or five attackers then started breaking down the kitchen door. Young locked his bedroom door. Then the attackers, who had then gained entry to the home, broke down the bedroom door and pointed Young with a firearm and demanded that he hand over his firearms.
Young told them he does not have firearms. The attack in the home only lasted about a minute and it is presumed that the attackers knew that he had requested assistance and immediately fled the scene with his watch, phone and a bicycle.
He was lucky to have not been killed during the attack.
Police are investigating but there have been no arrests. There is no other information available at this stage.
