A savage farm attack took place on 30 June 2020, at 02:00, on a smallholding in Sinoville, north of Pretoria, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. An elderly sleeping pair, Louis Jacobs (74) and Phida Strydom (78) were woken and severely injured after been tied up and kicked and hit in their faces and stabbed by the attackers. The armed attackers then proceeded to the son’s room.

The attackers who gained entry to the home by breaking the kitchen security gate held a gun to Strydom’s son’s head and demanded that he open the safe. The son (45) was also assaulted and tied up.

A couple who stays on the property and who assist with house and garden chores were also assaulted and tied up. Their one year old daughter was threatened with death should the safe keys not be handed over.

The attackers plundered the home and fled the scene leaving everyone tied up and assaulted. After only later being able to free themselves the family raised the alarm. Phida and Louis have both been admitted to a hospital in Pretoria.

There is no other information available at this stage and there have been no arrests.
